Known for it's rugged beauty, surf spots and calm culture, the Finistère area of beautiful Brittany is a piece of paradise.
Situated on the western peninsula, Crozon is one of those places if you don't visit you'll be kicking yourself afterwards and heres why...
Plage De L'île Vierge
A ferry ride away from Great Britain and easily accessible within Europe, Brittany is almost the untouched destination for an 'off the beaten track' adventure with it's wild and dramatic coastlines, medieval towns and rich Breton culture and culinary. Crozon in particular is a firm favourite for Hidden Gemsss with it's striking landscapes, turquoise waters and peaceful beaches to surf or relax. One beach especially kept a fond memory, Plage De L'île Vierge aka Virgin Island Beach is a Breton gem. Although preserved by locals and not that well known, this beach has been ranked as one of the top 'Ten Beautiful Beaches in Europe', with it's tranquil yet raw ambience, crystal clear sea and white washed pebbles.
Tip: To get to this secluded beach there is a bit of a hike along the scenic cliff side so be sure to wear your walking boots and prepare for the 'rock climb' down to the beach itself. There's not much around so bring a picnic, water and sun-cream and just enjoy the simple things in life!
On a side note, as mentioned above Crozon is a wicked surf spot! The beach you have to check out for some epic waves is Plage de La Palue.
