Combining an ambience of a traditional old fishing village with a dynamic seaside resort, Gruissan is a glorious setting.
One of the most surreal sunsets Hidden Gemsss has ever encountered (pictured below), we highly recommend if you're lucky enough to be in this southern part of France to stay and watch the captivating blends of yellow, red and orange.
Gruissan
Nestled in the Regional Natural Park of Narbonne, Gruissan surrounds itself with the magnificent Mediterranean lagoons and sea. The distinctive circular village offers quaint, petite streets filled with traditional bars, shops and eateries. The captivating commune of Gruissan has two marinas and picturesque beaches providing village views that showcase the medieval architecture of the Barberousse Tower as-well as the typical French exterior chalets. Gruissan is definitely a place that has left a special place in our hearts and one we will definitely return should we be in the Aude region.
Tip: There are many idyllic bars to stumble across when you're in Gruissan, one in particular that we loved that offered a fun and friendly atmosphere along with some tasty tapas and a nice selection of wines and beers was Vintage Café.
On a side note, only a 20 minute drive away you'll reach another wonderful town full of culture, history and entertainment, Narbonne.
