Portugal's mountainous, coastal capital is hard to miss.
Expect cobbled alleyways, hand-crafted colourful facades and the smell of Pastéis de nata...
Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon may be Portugal's magical metropolis but its far from the sounds of traffic jams and views of high-risers. Instead, this alluring city offers sounds of lively market goers and views of the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula, Tagus. From ancient ruins, a city filled with pastel coloured tiles and vivid street art, to a cuisine which fills your stomach with the freshest of chargrilled sardines, it's hardly a surprise why so many of us flock to this dreamy destination named Lisbon.
Tip: Opposite the Castelo de S. Jorge, you'll find the quaint 28Café which offers the perfect pick me up espresso and traditional Pastéis de nata.
On a side note, aside from the Tagus River, Lisbon is home to the rugged Atlantic coast. If you're in need of a seaside day trip Cascais is the place to go.
