Famed for it's Alpine ambience, dreamy lakes and breathtaking views, this Austrian Valley is certainly one to visit.
One lake in particular in the Valley is an Austrian postcard fit...
Silvretta Stausse
Montafon Valley is known to some as the picture perfect summertime Alpine drive, especially popular with fast cars and motorcyclists with it's sheer green mountains, dramatic 34 hairpin turns, surreal landscapes and unique encounters along the route such as cows blocking your way (haha). Once you've reached the top (around 20 minutes) you'll become mesmerised by what awaits before your eyes, Silvretta Reservoir. Located 2,000 metres above sea level, Silvretta Stausse is one of the most beautiful lakes Hidden Gemsss has stumbled across with it's glimmering emerald coloured waters, making it the perfect spot for a hike, stroll, cycle or simply taking in every moment.
Tip: If you fancy a break, head to Restaurant Silvretta for a wee espresso, offering wonderful panoramic views on the terrace.
On a side note, this area is also a renowned skiing resort in the winter months, one village in particular which is a hub to connect Silvretta and Vervall is Gortipohl, a great place to stay.
