Great for strolls, picking flowers and admiring the view, there's always one specific woods Hidden Gemsss heads to in Hertfordshire.
Hitch Woods
Known for it's attractive Georgian and timber-framed buildings, Whitwell is a peaceful, pleasant village to pass through, with a couple of local pubs, cornerstone, doctors and post office. Surrounded by farmland and ancient woodland, you'll come across many dog-walkers, cyclists and hunters along with beautiful wildlife and scenery. One woodland in particular at Easter draws a vast amount of visitors - Hitch Wood. Coated with a vibrant violet of Bluebells, these woods are a magical day out to explore Hertfordshire's true beauty.
Tip: Whitwell is a wonderful area to cycle around so grab your bike and go explore other neighbouring villages such as Preston and Gosmore.
On a side note, if you're in need for some powerful fuel, The Rusty Gun is an ideal country pub not so far from Whitwell, especially for their Sunday Roasts.
